B-days

We would like to thank everyone for the phone calls and the gifts. It makes the girls feel special and happy.

T minus 12 days to Sam's tonsilectomy

Project

Recognize this Wheelwright jewel, Matt? So, Bethany needed a new dresser because we were to the point that her socks were in a basket on the floor near her dresser. I rescued this um, jewel, from Matt's warehouse. I do this all the time. I get about 10 minutes into a project and think, what the heck am I doing here? I'd much rather be in a furniture store picking out the perfect dresser for my little girl's room using the money and time I'd be saving by not doing these hair brained projects. Anyhoo, being a teeny bit stubborn, I decided to dive in, and clean up and spray paint the darn thing. According to Shari, spray painting is the only way to go in restoring jewels like this and it's a cinch. I think she failed to mention, it's not a great idea in the middle of January in a freezing cold garage. After many days of trying and sanding and trying to warm up my garage with a space heater, I went with the crackled look. It's shabby chick, right? I played it up to the best of my abilities and when Bethany asked, it's supposed to look like that. And no, Mom did not screw up. Nevertheless, after all my sanding and spackeling and cleaning and spraying and sanding and spraying and contact papering, her socks are still in a basket. But we moved them to the closet. :)

Picky or Strange?

So we all know that Bethany is a picky eater. Actually, I've often thought she is a strange eater. She will eat a lot of strange things, but common things gross her out. Salad dressing for instance. Ranch is like poison. She does eat "salad" rather well. Bethany's version of dinner salad is plain, LIGHT green lettuce. Finger food. If she is feeling crazy, she'll put a little salt and pepper on it and on a wild night she goes all out with Parmesan cheese. So this week when she said she had a recipe for salad dressing, I told her to have at it. Look at the ingredients and see if you can see the obvious as I did. Let's just say she really likes french fries. :)

Before and After

Here are some shots of Michigan getting ear rings for her big day. I wish we would have take the picture of her lying on the park bench for 30 minutes pale and green wanting to faint from getting ear rings. It took her thirty minutes to make it from Claires in the mall to the car outside. Small price to be beautiful, I guess.
